Switch your bank accounts

Our 4 simple steps below will help make switching into Westpac easier, by allowing you to generate Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF switching forms (PDF 56kb) for recurring credit and debit payments.

Step 1
Open a new account with us

Choose the Westpac bank account that suits your needs and apply online, call 132 032 or visit your nearest branch.

Step 2
Identify your regular inward and outward payments from your old account

Regular payments you may want to consider switching are salary credits, share dividends, mobile phone bills, insurance premiums, energy bills, gym memberships and council rates.

Ask your previous financial institution to provide a Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF regular payment summary(PDF 193kb), which along with your new Westpac BSB and Account number, contains all the information you need to switch to Westpac.

Step 3
Use our online application to generate a form, which you need to sign and forward to us. We'll then do all the work in notifying your service providers of your new Westpac account details.

You can forward the signed forms by either:
1.Faxing the switch form(s) to 1300 138 388.
2.Mailing to Westpac operations team IBN 18, PO Box 3433, Sydney 2001
3.Visiting your local Westpac branch for on forwarding to the Westpac Operations team;

With periodical payments, cancel those on your old account and then set up a new periodical payment by simply calling 132 032 or use our Internet Banking.

Step 4
Close your old account

Make sure you allow time for your regular payments, salary deposit and periodical payments to transfer to your new Westpac account before contacting your previous financial institution to close your old account.
